Pottstown Hospital

Investing in the Health and Well-Being of Our Community

Since becoming part of Tower Health last fall, one of our early actions was to take steps to restore our historical standing as a non-profit institution – investing any profits we generate back into our people, our hospital and our technology to support the health and wellness of the Pottstown Community. Since October 2017, Pottstown Hospital has been able to reinvest $4 million in greatly needed equipment and technology. And, with $8 million planned to reinvest during the next 12 months, we’re working to strengthen nearly every aspect of your care, including:

  • Quality of Care – We’ve implemented state-of-the-art technology, equipment and systems to enhance quality of care, patient safety and the patient experience with additional improvements planned in the next 12 months:
    • IV pumps, blood pressure/heart rate and oxygen/heart rate machines for each nursing unit
    • Innovative rigid nephroscopes offering superb versatility and image quality in our Urology Department
    • Bariatric lithotomy stirrups for increased control and reduced risk of superficial nerve injury during procedures
    • Orthopedics Department equipment upgrades, including the latest Stryker® System 7
    • Enhanced technology for eye care
    • Cutting-edge technology in our Plastic Surgery Department designed to simplify operations and provide customized patient results
    • Advanced Doppler and Penumbra Indigo® System for minimally invasive vascular procedures enabling the rapid restoration of blood flow
    • Transition to the EPIC electronic medical record system to improve patient safety and enhance coordination of your care among all Pottstown Hospital and Tower Health providers. This platform also gives you the ability to communicate electronically with your providers, and schedule appointments, view test results and request prescription refills online
  • Access to Care – We’re ensuring you have access to the highest level of expertise in our region. In the past seven months, we’ve recruited various specialty physicians, including pediatrics, family medicine and general surgery to our employed medical group. They, along with more than fifty additional new medical providers and allied health specialists (PA/CRNP), are dedicated to managing your care and helping you to live your healthiest life.
  • Patient Experience – Your comfort is important to us and that’s why we’ve already implemented the changes below with other improvements planned in the next 12 months:
    • Renovations to the Emergency Department and outpatient entrances
    • Repaving visitor and building parking lots
    • Installing three new HVAC systems
  • Community Outreach – We’re also expanding our community outreach and support efforts with a variety of non-profit organizations, including:
    • Emmanuel Lutheran Community Meals
    • Pottstown Works
    • Pottstown Early Action for Kindergarten Readiness (PEAK)
    • Tri-County Community Network
    • And many others

In addition, we’ve expanded our support of local civic groups and non-profits through the following sponsorships, donations and in-kind services:

    • Pottstown Bike Race
    • Symetra, LPGA – Valley Forge Invitational
    • Rotary parades (4th of July and Halloween)
    • Hospital leaders serve on various community boards, lending time
      and talent
    • Casual for a Cause Friday dress down donations
    • And many more
  • Community Health Needs Assessment – A key component of our non-profit mission is to keep you healthy and well. That’s why we’re collaborating with local representatives to identify our most pressing health priorities. Over the next 12 months, Pottstown Hospital and an advisory board comprised of local public health, government, religious, higher education and minority and low-income representatives will conduct a formal Community Health Needs Assessment. The results will be completed and publicly available by July 1, 2019 with the implementation plan publicly available by November 15, 2019.
